Lion (2016)

Lion is a biographical drama about five-year-old Saroo Brierley, who was adopted from India to Australia and later used Google Earth to find his birth family. This is an adaptation of Saroo Brierley’s memoir ‘A Long Way Home’ and is a widely acclaimed portrait of intercountry and transracial adoption, identity and belonging.

It explores adoptive family life in Australia, including the arrival of a second child who struggles to settle and the complex pull of identity that drives Saroo to search for his birth family.
