At Adopt London South, we recognise that adopted adults can face unique challenges as a result of their early life experiences. A difficult start in life can impact relationships, identity, attachment, and emotional wellbeing, as well as how individuals make sense of their past and their place in the world.

For any enquiries relating to Adoption Support, please e-mail us at the [email protected] where the mailbox is regularly monitored. We welcome e-mail enquiries, which are often progressed quicker.
Alternatively, if you feel you would like to speak with someone, call 020 7525 4491. The Post Adoption Helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.00pm. Outside of these hours, please leave a message with your name and contact details and a Social Worker will endeavour to contact you the next working day.
Our Post Adoption Support Team endeavours to provide an initial response to your query needs within five days at point of receipt. However, if your circumstances become more difficult please call our Helpline on 020 7525 4491 and request a telephone consultation with one of our experienced social workers. They will contact you to arrange a time for the consultation.
Support when you need it
The PAC-UK Advice Line provides independent, confidential advice and information for people affected by adoption. The service is staffed by qualified and experienced PAC-UK counsellors and social workers with specialist expertise in these areas.

ALS Adopted Adults Support Group
Are you an adopted adult? Are you looking to meet other adopted adults?
We have an Adopted Adults support group which is guided by Adopted Adults but supported by Adopt London South. We hold monthly meetings which are a mix of online and in person, in a safe space. Our members can meet and share commonalities, experiences and feelings about how adoption may have impacted their lives. The group is open to everyone who was adopted, and who is over 18 years old and lives in one of our 10 South London boroughs (This includes Greenwich, Croydon, Lewisham, Lambeth, Southwark, Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth, Richmond and Kingston).

The Transition to Adulthood
The Transition to Adulthood Project is a supportive group for adopted young adults aged 18–24 living in London. Meeting monthly in a relaxed and welcoming environment, the group provides an opportunity to connect with other adopted people who share similar experiences, build friendships, access guidance on adoption-related issues, and gain confidence as you navigate adult life.
Facilitated by experienced professionals with personal connections to adoption, the sessions offer a safe space to explore topics chosen by group members, share experiences without judgement, and develop a sense of belonging within an understanding community.

Transracial Adult Adoptee Network (TAAN)
This an independent network and support group for adult transracial adoptees from across London. Co-founders Debbie and Fran set up the group which has regular meet-ups in North London. If you are a transracial adoptee and are aged 18 or over, you are welcome to attend, wherever you live or come from.
You will meet other adoptees, have an opportunity to share experiences or you can just listen in. Email [email protected] to find out more and to book your place. Future dates for 2026 include 10 September, 29 October and 10 December.
Historical forced adoption
We acknowledge the serious and lasting harm caused by historical forced adoption and we recognise and applaud the courage and persistence of everyone who has tirelessly advocated and campaigned for the Government’s long awaited formal public apology.
