Thinking about adoption

It takes compassion and commitment to think about becoming an adoptive parent. Our children need love, stability, belonging and the chance to build a lifetime of memories. For many of us, family has always been more than blood. It’s about who shows up and who stands beside you when life gets tough.

The Black Adoption Project offers a welcoming space for individuals and couples from London’s Black community, including Black, mixed-heritage and mixed-Black relationship couples, to connect, ask questions and hear from adoptive parents who have already been through the journey. Our online and in-person Meet the Adopters events provide an opportunity to learn more about adoption, build connections and access support from a growing network of people who understand the process. To find upcoming sessions, visit our Events page and search for the Black Adoption Project’s Meet the Adopters.
As well as events to meet our adopters, we want to support more Black families to come forward and be approved as adopters, and give you access to a growing network of people who understand adoption.

Keep going - we're here to support you
