Adopt London Virtual Choir

Being an adoptive parent is one of the most rewarding journeys you can take, but it can also be challenging, emotional and sometimes isolating. That’s why Adopt London is proud to offer a support group with a difference.

Find support through singing

The Adopt London Virtual Choir brings together approved adopters from across London in a welcoming, supportive, and uplifting community where singing is just the beginning.

Whether you love singing, haven’t sung since school, or think you can’t sing at all, you are very welcome. No auditions. No pressure. Just support, friendship and an hour each week that is entirely for you.

Many members describe the choir as an extended family.

“The Adopt London Virtual Choir has been a lovely way to meet other people in the adoption world. The WhatsApp group has become an advice and support network in a non-judgemental environment.” Charlie

What started during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020 has become something truly special. Over the years, the choir has grown into a thriving peer support network where adoptive parents:

  • Share experiences and advice
  • Celebrate successes together
  • Support one another through difficult times
  • Build lasting friendships
  • Prioritise their own wellbeing
  • Enjoy music, laughter and connection

Why singing matters

Singing can reduce stress, boost wellbeing and create a sense of connection. For adoptive parents, choir offers a regular opportunity to focus on themselves while spending time with people who understand the adoption journey.

The Adopt London Choir has attracted national attention for its unique approach to adoption support. In December 2023, choir members sang live on BBC Radio London, and also featured on BBC Breakfast during National Adoption Week 2023, helping raise awareness of adoption support and the importance of peer connections.

The choir is led by Megan Tanner, an experienced vocal coach, foster carer, trainer and passionate advocate for children and families. Megan creates a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Her warmth, humour and understanding are often mentioned by members as one of the reasons they keep coming back.

“Megan’s choir is like some kind of healing balm.” Jay

Just Sing

Songs that tell our story

Over the years, choir members have recorded a number of uplifting performances that reflect the adoption journey and the strength of the community they have created.

The choir has recorded a range of uplifting performances that tell stories of hope, connection, family and belonging, Visit our YouTube channel to watch the videos and see the choir in action,  including: You Will Be Found,  Colour My World, and That’s Christmas To Me.

“For us attending the choir practice each week has been like therapy. It’s a precious hour protected for singing with a wonderful group of people, all connected through adoption.” Gill

Adoption can sometimes feel overwhelming. Many adopters experience moments when they feel isolated, exhausted or unsure where to turn. The choir provides a safe space where people understand the realities of adoption without needing lengthy explanations. It is a place where people sing together, laugh together, support one another and remind each other that nobody has to navigate adoption alone.

Sing. Connect. Belong. Because support doesn’t always look like a support group. Sometimes it sounds like a choir.
