Join our Saturday group

21st January 2026 News

Are you adopted, living in London and Black or mixed Black heritage? If you answered yes, you are invited to join us – we’ve created a space just for YOU! The Black Adoption Project asked adopted young people what support they wanted, and the answer was clear – a fun, safe place to meet others like them. So we made it happen! After seven amazing sessions, we’re ready to make 2026 bigger and better—and we want YOU to be part of it.

Who can join and what’s it all about?

  • Black and mixed Black heritage adopted young people can attend
  • You can live in any London borough
  • Two groups:
    8 – 13 years → 12 – 2pm
    13+ years →   3 – 5pm
  • Monthly Saturday meet-ups in the Islington/Hackney area
  • A space designed by young people, for young people
  • It’s all about meeting up, having fun while thinking about identity and culture in a relaxed setting.

YOU get to shape what happens next! We need your help to plan:
✅ Day trips
✅ Cultural experiences
✅ Creative workshops (graffiti art, bag/jewellery design, rap writing, podcast hosting, photography, and lots more)
✅ Sports sessions (football, netball – let’s get active!)

Most importantly, you’ll meet other Black and mixed heritage adopted young people and you can start building new and lasting friendships.

Charmaine Miller, the Programme Lead and our awesome volunteer team who know adoption inside out will be there as well other adopted young people – just like you – who want to meet others. You can talk about adoption… or not. It’s completely up to you. The vibe? Super informal and super welcoming.

Ready to join? This is YOUR space. YOUR voice. YOUR community.
