Activities for young people
Are you adopted, living in London and Black or mixed Black heritage? If you answered yes, you are invited to join us – we’ve created a space just for YOU! The Black Adoption Project asked adopted young people what support they wanted, and the answer was clear – a fun, safe place to meet others like them. So, we made it happen! We’re ready to make 2026 bigger and better—and we want YOU to be part of it.
Activity groups
We host two groups every month on a Saturday. These sessions are held in the Islington/Hackney area and give young Black adopted people a space to come together.
Our venue has fantastic youth club facilities; media studio, table tennis, football table, IT hub and outside sports court. There’s a kitchen area too.
What’s most important is the opportunity to come together culturally and connect. We’ve got two groups to choose from – age dependent.

The Kidz Krew
Are you a Black adopted young person aged 8 – 13 who lives in London?
If the answer is yes, then The Kidz Krew is for you! We meet from 12pm to 2pm.

Culture Club
Are you a Black adopted young person aged 13 –19 who lives in London?
If the answer is yes, then Culture Club is for you! We meet at 3pm til 5pm.
Creative culture
It’s not just about linking up and meeting new people – we’re bringing good vibes, creativity, and culture too! Our Kidz Krew and Culture Club sessions are all about trying new things, building skills, and having fun together. Join us, share your ideas, and help us plan lit events and unforgettable trips!

Why these groups matter
Adopted children are growing up navigating identity, culture, and belonging in a world that often doesn’t reflect their lived experience. For Black adopted young people, life can feel even more complex. That’s why our Black Adoption Project Saturday Children and Young People’s Group was created. Not only to provide a safe, affirming community where children and teens can be themselves but to connect with others like them, feel seen, understood, and supported.
Many adopted children can feel isolated or different without having the words to describe why. They may struggle with peer relationships, confidence, emotional well-being, or school experiences. A space filled with other Black adopted young people can make an extraordinary difference. At our group, your child will be surrounded by peers who won’t have to explain their background or their feelings; they can simply be. For many young people, that sense of shared identity is both grounding and liberating.
Facilitated by a team who understand
Our volunteers bring a wealth of experience both personal and professional, creating a unique and supportive environment. If your child attends, they can participate in whatever feels right for them. We provide space for free play, such as table tennis, basketball and crafts. We may also do the occasional day trip or workshop. Ultimately, both Kidz Krew and Culture Club are spaces for Black adopted young people to build friendships, have fun and feel supported.
