The Black Adoption Project – creating better futures for Black adopted children in London

NATP – free memberships for adopters and Special Guardians

8th October 2020 News

Since May this year The National Association of Therapeutic Parents (NATP) have been supporting hundreds of Adopt London adopters and Special Guardianship families through the COVID19 lockdown period with free 12 month memberships. They have one to one therapy sessions, peer group meetings and so much more. Their aim is to give families as much support with therapeutic parenting for their children who are struggling with the impact of trauma in their early life.

Lisa from the NATP tells us about just some services on offer and available right now to Adopt London adopters and Special Guardians.

Listening Circles – these are online sessions, at convenient times for you – daytime or in the evening – with families who ‘get it!’ Parents attend to receive support from other parents with the same issues, others to offer their knowledge and support and some just to absorb the valuable tips and techniques shared. These sessions always have a designated Listening Circle Coordinator (LCC) on hand and responsible for the coordination of the group.

One2One therapy sessions – a chance for anyone who is living with a child/ren with Developmental Trauma and who would like additional support, guidance and an empathic ear. Our NATP expert therapists offer telephone sessions to apply practical behaviour management strategies THAT WORK! As well as assisting families to identify compassion, fatigue and to acknowledge your own feelings and responses to your children.

The Men’s group online sessions are popular, and give dads and male carers a chance to share their concerns, achievements and seek the support they need when parenting and caring for their children.

Wellbeing sessions, are just that – there either to boost the well-being of parents at the end of their tether or just to take advantage of the quiet space with other parents at the end of a long day.

To find out about these sessions and all the services on offer from the NATP, please contact them on 01453 519000 or simply visit our blog for sign up details.
