CANCELLED: Meet The Adopters Event – Croydon

28th April 2020
6:30 pm — 8:30 pm
Fairfield Hall, Samuel Taylor Coleridge Suite; Park Lane, East Croydon, CR9 1DG

If you want to find out what adoption is really like – come along to this event. It is a great opportunity to learn about adoption from the experts – the adopters themselves.

This is an informal session for prospective adopters where you can hear a panel of adopters talk about their life as adoptive parents. We have a number of adopters from many walks of life. They may be single, LGBT, sibling adopters, early permanence adopters, or adopters who have come back to do it all over again for a second or third time.

They have all had different experiences – good and bad.  They parent single children or siblings groups and speak openly and honestly about their experiences of working with social workers through the assessment period, as well as what it is like parenting their children.  You will hear about how they were matched with their child, the first introductions, contact with birth families, accessing support and education, life as a family and the reality of parenting a child with a traumatic past. Come along, listen, and ask questions.
