The Black Adoption Project – creating better futures for Black adopted children in London

Merry Christmas Everyone

10th December 2020 Blog

The Adopt London Choir are pleased to share our first ever Christmas song with you. The instantly recognisable classic, made famous by Shakin’ Stevens in 1985, has been revamped by our choirmaster Megan and is guaranteed to have you clapping, dancing and singing along with us.

How it started

The Adopt London Choir began in response to the pandemic to provide an uplifting experience for our adoptive families. Bringing together this wonderful group of people all connected through adoption has created a greater sense of community at Adopt London. For many, the choir has become a highlight of the week

What our choir members say

“I don’t know where I would be without the help we have had and our amazing choir.” Alison

“Singing is good for the soul and being around others on this journey is a support system in progress.” Fiona

“For us, the choir was a boost to our mental well-being.” Pratima

“Attending the choir practice each week has been like therapy.” Gill

“Our choir has been fantastic and a source of huge support and emotional sustenance in a very difficult time with the pandemic putting more pressure than even on already strained families.” Sarah

Join the Adopt London Choir

Research suggests that singing workshops can have positive effects on your mental health and can boost feelings of happiness. If you would like to join the fun, meet other adoptive families and experience that feel-good factor through singing, there are some places in the choir left.

If you are an approved adopter living in or connected to one of the 23 Adopt London boroughs or you are Adopt London staff, you can email Megan at [email protected] to join the choir.
